Belarus simplifies conditions for sitting up private unitary companies
Belarus is simplifying the conditions of setting up private unitary companies by sole traders. President of Belarus signed relevant decrees No 496 and 497 on October 15, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service. As part of a non-monetary contribution to an authorized charter of a private unitary company a sole trader can contribute the goods which had been imported to the country ahead of the day of state registration of a unitary company, without having to go through customs clearance and pay customs fees. >>>
Belarus wins four gold medals at European juniour weightlifting championships
Four Belarusians won gold medals at the European junior weightlifting championships in Tenerife, Spain. These are Sergei Lagun (77kg), Andrei Armyanov (105kg), Evgeny Zhernosek (+105kg) and Ekaterina Shkuratova (+75kg). Bronze medals went to Belarusian Viktor Sorokaletov (56kg), Dmitry Vornik (+105kg) and Anastasia Osmolovskaya (69kg). Belarusians won another 13 medals in individual events (snatch or clean and jerk) which are not Olympic disciplines. >>>
Belarus, Ukraine cultivate good-neighbour relations, says Alexander Lukashenko
Belarus and Ukraine have established good-neighbour relations, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko said on October 12 at a press conference for representatives of the Russian regional mass media. According to the Head of State, the growth of the trade turnover between the countries testifies to this fact. This year the trade turnover is expected to reach $3 billion. Moscow to host talks about Russian gas supplies to Belarus October 11
Belarusian Energy Minister Alexander Ozerets and Director General of OAO Beltransgaz Vladimir Mayorov will hold negotiations with top executives of OAO Gazprom in Moscow on October 11, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA. The meeting is supposed to table Russian natural gas supplies to Belarus till the end of 2007 and the next year. The sides will also consider other topical cooperation issues. >>>

Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister Valery Voronetsky is taking part in the Vilnius Energy Security Conference 2007: Responsible Energy Industry for Responsible Partners. Belarus interested in attracting foreign money into banking
Belarus is interested in attracting foreign capital into its banking industry, Belarusian Economy Minister Nikolai Zaichenko said at a press conference dedicated to the opening of the third Belarusian-Latvian finance and investment forum on October 9. “We are working on bringing foreign capital and increasing the banking role in the development of the national economy,” he said. Belarus, UN cooperation in combating trade in children discussed in New York
Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Viktor Gaisenok met with Deputy Chief Executive of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Kul Gautam to discuss the avenues of cooperation between Belarus and the United Nations Organisation in combating the trade in children, BelTA leant from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. The UNICEF intends to include the issues relating to the fight against trade in children and sexploitation into training programmes of the international centre for training specialists in combating human trafficking and illegal migration, which has opened in Minsk this year with the assistance provided by the International Organisation for Migration /IOM/. >>>
Belarus wins seven medals at World Sambo Cup in Moscow
Belarusian athletes have claimed seven medals at the World Sambo Cup in Moscow. The gold medal winners are Alexander Vakhoviak (100kg category) and Ekaterina Prokopenko (60kg). The silver medal winners are Andrei Kurlypo (52kg), Dmitry Bazylev (68kg), Olga Leschenko (48kg), Ekaterina Radevich (72kg). Igor Sedoi picked up bronze in the 62kg category. The world sambo championships are scheduled for November 7-11 in Prague. >>>
Belarus is ready to negotiate Schengen visa fees with EU
Belarus is ready for negotiations with the European Union about Schengen visa fees for Belarusian nationals, head of the consular department of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus Andrei Giro told reporters. In his words, the Belarusian party expressed readiness to start negotiations about simplifying the visa regime with the EU countries back in 2004. “We made our offers clear and now we wait for a constructive decision from the EU,” Andrei Giro said. >>>
Belarus negotiating mutual travels with neighbouring future Schengen countries
Belarus is in talks with Lithuania, Latvia and Poland about mutual travels of citizens in view of these countries' accession to the Schengen Zone Agreement. The accession is scheduled for January 1, 2008, Head of the Consular Affairs Department of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Andrei Giro told media on October 5. In his words, consular talks with the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry took place on September 18-19, talks with Poland — October 2-3. >>>
