Gomselmash to export 350 combine harvesters to Ukraine in early 2008

At the beginning of 2008 Gomselmash will supply 350 combine harvesters to Ukraine, the first lot of combine harvesters will be produced by the end of the year, Gomselmash deputy director general, director of regional sales department Vasily Klimenok told BelTA. In January-October 2007, Gomselmash exports totaled $80.2 million, an increase of 64.1% as compared to the same time last year. The company traded with 21 countries worldwide. >>>

Exhibition “Triennale: Illustrations of Tallinn” to open in National Library of Belarus

An exhibition “Triennale: Illustrations of Tallinn”, which will open at the National Library of Belarus on November 29, is organised by the National Library of Estonia in cooperation with the consulate general of Belarus to Tallinn. The exposition will feature 43 illustrations by Estonian artists for the children’s books published recently in Estonia, BelTA learnt in the consulate general. The exhibition is a scheduled event envisaged in the cooperation programme between the two libraries. >>>

Chinese company Changhong ready to aid promotion of digital TV in Minsk

Chinese company Changhong is interested in building a digital TV station in Minsk, Director of cable television company Minsk Television Information Networks (MTIS) Viktor Bychkov told BelTA after negotiations with Changhong. The negotiations took place as part of the Minsk Days in Changchun. Changhong is a major Chinese company with many branches across the PRC. It manufactures a wide range of radio electronics — from TV sets to satellite communication systems. >>>

Belarus starts shipping humanitarian supplies to Moldova

National association Belsemena of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry has started shipping humanitarian supplies to Moldova following a request of Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev for assistance with alleviating drought consequences. According to Deputy Director General of Belsemena Piotr Romanovsky, following the President’s instruction Belarus will ship 150 tonnes of seed potato worth $55,000 and 100 tonnes of wheat ($30,500) to Moldova. >>>

Belarus President pushes for less expensive recreation

The President of Belarus gave instructions to continue working on making recreation less expensive and on improving recreation and treatment opportunities in the country as he heard out a report from Leonid Kozik, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB), on November 22. Victory over Dutch is not the reason to be euphoric, Bernd Stange says

Belarus defeated the Netherlands 2-1 in Minsk in their final Euro 2008 Group G qualifier on Wednesday, November 21. “We are happy with the victory but this is not the reason to bee euphoric,” Belarus’ German coach Bernd Stange told an after-match press conference. The Netherlands who have made it through to the finals brought fringe players to Minsk and it was a bit easier for the home side. Nevertheless the Belarusians played well, the coach said, Even after substituting Alexander Hleb, who had an injury in the second half, dominated the game and scored twice. >>>

Chinese city of Changchun to host Days of Minsk November 20-24

The Days of Minsk will be held in the Chinese city of Changchun on November 20-24. On November 20 an official delegation of Minsk City Council leaves for China to partake in the Days. The delegation is composed of representatives of the business, scientific and cultural circles. Belarusian Quality 2007 exhibition presents 40 companies of Belarus

Over 40 companies of Belarus take part in the exhibition Belarusian Quality 2007 that opened in Moscow on November 20. Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky noted at the opening ceremony of the exposition that the Russian capital is supplied with Belarusian high quality products. The exhibition presents the producers from all Belarusian oblasts. Among them are meat-packing plants, distilleries, manufacturers of carpets, footwear, TV sets and medical equipment. >>>
