Belarus’ environmental ministry urges to facilitate utilization of conservation funds
MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – The rate of utilization of funds of the conservation foundations was very low in the first half of 2010, First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Vitaly Kulik said at a session of the ministry. “No program has been implemented in full. The average percentage of the utilization is 40-60%, and this is despite the fact that we projected that only 10-20% of the annual funding would be disbursed in the first half,” Vitaly Kulik said. >>>
Belarus plans to switch into trade surplus by 2013
MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Belarus plans to switch into trade surplus by 2013, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky said at a session of the Council of Ministers. In H1 2010 the quality parameters of the economic performance have improved, Sergei Sidorsky said. The export outpaced import by 12.9%. In January-May 2010 the foreign trade deficit was $500 million less than in the same period of 2009. >>>
Lukashenko, Assad to hold one-on-one meeting
MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Belarusian head of state Alexander Lukashenko and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will hold a one-on-one meeting in the National Library of Belarus, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian leader. Bashar al-Assad will also have a guided tour of the National Library.

Belarus’ GDP to grow by at least 11% in 2010
MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ GDP will grow by at least 11% in 2010, Economy Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov told a session of the Council of Ministers on 27 July. “The achievement of the necessary growth rate by GDP-forming industries, the fulfillment of the system decisions adopted by the government, including program products that the industries have adopted, will allow securing the GDP growth rate as large as at least 111% and achieving the targeted goals of 2010,” said the Minister. >>>

MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – Russia is a natural historical strategic partner of Belarus, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview with Syria’s Al-Watan newspaper, BelTA has learnt. “We have a multi-billion dollar trade turnover. We cooperate across numerous areas,” the President said. According to him, the customs union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia opens up the prospects of even closer cooperation, if, of course, this union gets to grow into a full-fledged organization, without exceptions and restrictions. >>>
Belarus, Syria to cooperate in industry
MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – Belarus and Syria are approaching a level of industrial cooperation, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview with Syria’s Al-Watan newspaper, BelTA has learnt. Lukashenko orders to use more domestic materials in building co-generation plants
