Grodno university awarded State Banner of Honor

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – For outstanding achievements in social and cultural development, preparation of highly trained personnel and in view of the 70th anniversary of the foundation the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno has been awarded the State Banner of Honor of the Republic of Belarus. The Belarus President signed the relevant decree on 24 February, the press service of the Belarusian head of state told BelTA. >>>

Grodno State University celebrates 70th anniversary

GRODNO, 22 February (BelTA) - Delegations from five countries will take part in the celebrations timed to the 70th anniversary of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, BelTA learnt from Nadezhda Vashkelevich, deputy head of the mass communication center of the university. The celebrations will start on 22 February and will be running through 26 February. Representatives of Vilnius Pedagogical University, the Dragomanov National Pedagogical University (Ukraine), heads of the Polish and Russian universities: Bialystok University, Podlaska Academy, Pomorze Academy (Poland), the Kant University of Kaliningrad, Tula Pedagogical University, Moscow Law Academy (Russia) are expected to arrive in Grodno. >>>

Victory relay race takes start in Belarus

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – The international Victory relay race took its start in Grodno, at the memorial ensemble of the soldiers of the Belarusian frontier district killed during the first days of the Great Patriotic War, on 2 February, BelTA learnt from the press service of the State Border Committee of Belarus. The decision to hold the event timed to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was taken by the CIS Council of the Commanders of the Border Services. >>>

Grodnoenergo, Czech Export Bank sign loan contract to construct Grodno hydropower plant

MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) – The Grodnoenergo company and the Czech Export Bank has signed a credit agreement to construct the Grodno hydropower plant, Deputy Energy Minister of Belarus Mikhail Mikhadyuk said during the online conference on the BelTA website on 22 January. The contract became another step to implement the agreements reached by the Belarusian and Czech sides to construct the hydropower plant. >>>

Fifteen regions of Grodno Oblast celebrate 70th anniversary on 15 January

GRODNO, 15 January (BelTA) – Fifteen regions of the Grodno oblast celebrate the 70th anniversary of their establishment on 15 January, BelTA learnt from the ideology department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee. The regions were established on 15 January 1940. They are the Volkovysk, Voronovo, Grodno, Ivye, Lida, Mosty, Novogrudok, Ostrovets, Oshmyany, Svisloch, Slonim, Smorgon and Shchuchin regions. >>>

Grodno intends to increase export of goods by 27.5% in 2010

GRODNO, 30 December (BelTA) – In 2010, the Grodno-based companies intend to increase the export of goods by 27.5% as against the same period of 2008, the export of services – by 18%. Such performances were confirmed during a session of the Grodno City Council of Deputies on 29 December. In 2009, the growth rate of the industrial products output is supposed to make up 113.4%, consumer goods production – 115. >>>

Grodno customs house braces for New Year

GRODNO, 28 December (BelTA) – The Grodno regional customs house has extended working hours and has put more personnel on duty in anticipation of the New Year, the press service of the customs house told BelTA. BelTA has been told, apart from official working hours corporate customs clearance stations have undertaken additional obligations. A customs body is ready to start customs clearance of commodities within four hours after a motivated application has been filed. >>>

Grodno, Bialystok medical universities developing joint project in OB/GYN

GRODNO, 22 December (BelTA) – Grodno State Medical University and Medical University of Bialystok discussed a joint project which they plan to implement within the framework of the EU’s transboundary cooperation program Poland-Belarus-Ukraine at a regular meeting in Grodno on 21 December, BelTA learnt from head of the OB/GYN department of Grodno State Medical University Tatiana Yegorova. The specialists of obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) departments of the two universities discussed scientific projects they could jointly implement. >>>

Grodno, Bialystok sign cooperation agreement

GRODNO, 16 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian city of Grodno and the Polish city of Bialystok have signed a cooperation agreement. The document has been signed by Chairman of the Grodno City Executive Committee Boris Kozelkov and his counterpart Tadeusz Truskoliaski in the Reception Hall of the Bialystok President. Consul General of Belarus in Bialystok Mikhail Alekseichik and Consul General of Poland in Grodno Adam Bernatovicz attended the signing ceremony. >>>

Grodno to meet Peace Light from Bethlehem December 18

GRODNO, 14 December (BelTA) - The Peace Light of Bethlehem will be delivered to Grodno on 18 December, Jan Kuchinski, the prior of the Franciszek Ksawery Cathedral of Grodno, told BelTA. On 18 December, in the morning, the light from the Lampion of the Bethlehem Basilica of the Nativity of Christ will be delivered by the Polish scouts to the Belarusian border and handed over to representatives of the Belarusian youth organizations. >>>
