| MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – Belarus has never pursued selfish interests developing the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan and going for integration, including integration inside the Union State. The statement was made by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he met with Executive Secretary of the Customs Union Commission Sergei Glazyev on 22 July.
According to the head of state, the Belarusian side cannot be blamed for the fact that “not everything in the Union of Belarus and Russia turns out well”. >>> |
| MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) – The Zhirovichi Assumption Monastery will mark the day of the Saint Mary Icon of Zhirovichi on 20 May. The celebrations will be led by Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarchal Exarch for All Belarus Filaret, BelTA learned from Archimandrite Alexis, spokesman of the Belarusian Exarchate.
Many eparches of the Belarusian Orthodox Church will take part in the celebrations. In addition, multiple guests from CIS and non-CIS states are expected to arrive, said Father Alexis. >>> |
| MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – In the complicated financial and economic conditions Belarus and Russia should keep manufacturing ties strong and create new cooperation models. It will allow overcoming negative consequences of the global crisis together. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made the statement as he met with Moscow Oblast Governor Boris Gromov in Minsk on 8 April, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Lukashenko also believes that no restrictions regarding the access of commodities to each other’s market should exist because the present level of manufacturing cooperation testifies that a common Belarusian-Russian product is manufactured. >>> |
| GRODNO, 30 March (BelTA) – The reconstruction of the Benyakoni international border checkpoint at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border is expected to complete in July 2010, BelTA learnt from Major Oleg Anatsky, head of the press service of the Lida board guard detachment.
The reconstruction was launched in December 2005. Four pathways have already been constructed. All necessary equipment for customs examination has been installed. >>> |
| In 2009, Lidagroprommash is planning to export 120 combine harvesters Lida-
1300, four times up over 2008, BelTA learnt from Andrei Zakharchuk, Lidagroprommash deputy director for marketing and sales.
This type of combine harvester has proved effective in harvesting grain crops with the yield of up to 50 centners per hectare. That is why Russian and Kazakhstan partners are going to increase imports of this equipment. >>> |
| Lidselmash will make land levelers for Turkmenistan, BelTA learnt from commercial director of the company Oleg Plavsky.
The experimental sample of the land leveler has been already successfully tested in Turkmenistan. The sides are discussing a contract for the delivery of this equipment at the amount of $4 million.
Lidselmash has been actively working on boosting export supplies. Next year, the company will start exports of grain drying units to Kazakhstan. >>> |
| In late 2008 – early 2009 OAO Grodno Azot will start receiving equipment required for manufacturing polyamide 6, Grodno Azot representatives told BelTA.
The launch of polyamide 6 production is part of the state innovation development programme of Belarus. The project will enable the company to manufacture polyamide 6 for export. The material is used to make engineering plastics. Proprietary caprolactam will be used as feedstock. >>> |

| In 2008, a new train service from Grodno to St. Petersburg will be opened in Belarus, deputy head of the Belarusian Railways passenger service Yuri Redko told BelTA.
“The number of passengers traveling from Belarus to Russia by train has been constantly growing. Therefore we decided to launch a new train service to connect Grodno with St. Petersburg,” Yuri Redko said. The service will be available three days a week. >>> |
| More efforts are now put into eliminating violations of land and water protection laws uncovered by the State Control Committee in the Grodno oblast, BelTA learnt from Mikhail Krasnovsky, Head of the Grodno Oblast Department of the State Control Committee.
So far 22 out of 139 illegally built buildings have been demolished, 16 out of 77 squatter land plots have been vacated. Thirty-one officials have faced disciplinary punishments, 84 individuals — administrative prosecution. >>> |
